Breed Standard

General description;
The Baroque should
eminate the look of power,
elegance, prowess and strength.
He should be the gentlest
of creatures with all.
Highly trainable for any task put forth.


The Baroque's carriage is noble and upright.
He is a very free moving horse.
Smooth, well muscled body.


High set, long, powerful neck.
Well laid back shoulder.
Moderate wither. Short back.
Slightly rounded croup. Round rearend.
Medium-low tail set. Straight legs.
Medium-heavy bone.


Head should be strong, well defined and square.
Large nostrils set on a square muzzle.
Eyes should be large, round and set wide apart.
Ears should be small, tapered and
tip into each other.


Movement should be free and powerful.
Strong ground covering walk.
Animated, high stepping trot.
Cadenced, ease free canter.


The Baroque should be a joy to ride.
Comfortable in all gaits. Have good endurance.


Any color allowed.


Height should be over 15HH. Stallions must be 15HH to be eligable for registration.


Mane and tail should be profuse and long.
Feathering on the feet are prefered but not necessary.


Penalties; Uncomfortable gait.
Short neck. Long back. Flat croup.
Thin mane and tail.



Disqualifications; Lack of animation.
Stiff or labored movement.
Lameness. Poor boning.
Poor or diffacult disposition.
Poor immune system. Lack of valor.




NABHA has the right to alter this
standard as needed. Alterations are
voted on by membership and a 65%
aye vote must be counted in order for
changes to become effective.
